It was one of the games you wish they called off.
Temp was in the high 40's So a guess that's not to bad. I Cut a hole in the bottom of a extra large ziploc Bag and used 2 rubber bands to hold it around the lens cap then cut a hole for the monopod bracket. My jacket kept me fairly dry but my pants and shoes were socked. So for .30 bag works Great.

Be careful, it's not waterproof. I've gotten mine wet and I experienced numerous malfunctions until it dried out.

I'm lucky, we have a 9 month dry seasom where I live. The main problem is dust though.

nice work under tough conditions Paul. FWIW, I use the Kata raincover and find it works wonders in protecting our very pricey gear.

This is 40°C, right? I wouldnt be happy with rain and 40°F

http://www.thinktankphoto.com/ttp_product_HydroPhb.php (external link) is the way to go IMO. If you can use plastic bags, more power to you though. I figure the price of a nice rain setup is well worth it when you consider the price of what its protecting.

That cover looks fantastic.... i think that's the best rain cover i've seen. I have the kata cover but i feel it's a pain the a____ trying to put it on in a down pour. I also like the fact that the Hydrophobia has a proper eye piece, much easier to get decent focus than having to try and press that soaking wet plastic cover against you eye........

Thanks for the link, will check it out......

Scott, Thanks
I checked out Kata raincover web site. Having trouble getting a clear image of there DSLR products.

Adam, That's A great cover. I did look at the storm jacket. But they didn't seem much better then a zip lock bag with rubberbands. I think I'm going to check these out.

Thanks Guys !!

Nice pics. I think someone needs to post the pics of the DIY rain cover already. I bought some 2.5 gal bags but failed miserably at making one. Anyone car to share pics. I found that after I covered the whole camera and 70-200L I had no way to zoom the lens back and forth. lol

Turk, take this fwiw but for $50 on Ebay, you can get a brand new pro cover that will ensure that your very expensive gear is protected. Just my opinion but if you plan on shooting in the rain, protecting your gear is just not a place I'd pinch pennies.

Look at what the girls are wearing. You'd think they'd be wearing long sleeve body armour in 40 celsius weather?

Any other rain protection suggestions? I will be shooting several outdoor, multi-day festivals, so rain is a real possibility. I will be handholding and not shooting on a stand/tripod.

I own one of the ThinkTank covers that Adam mentioned. Very nice! I like it better than the Aquatech covers.
