Action was hard to follow, missed lot of shots switching between 2 bodies. Next time I will only try 1 body.

Nice shots.

There seems to be a pretty noticable size difference between kids, the lil guys must be moving pretty quick I bet. haha

The little kids (there were 3 of them) were super fast. The small kid in white uniform was awesome.

Bobby, these look very nice. great work on player isolation and exposure. the only thing I might suggest is to watch your timing to capture more eyes. soccer can be tough for this as kids often lack the skills/confidence to dribble with their heads up and are always looking at the ball.

500mm....wow! Did you find 500mm too long (as far as quantity of opportunities)?

As far as your photo's, no criticism here...Very Nice!

Actually 500mm was ideal on 1dmk2. Most folks that I know shoot with 1.4xTC on 400mm f2.8 IS. I did have 70-200mm f2.8 on my 30d.

Last yr when I tried 500mm on 30d, it was too long.

I'm sure that lens is overkill for footie!

If you look back a few pages there was a guy did some awesome shots of kids playing football, he said he got down on his belly and it showed as they looked really big compared to what you've done here.

I suggest you give that a go :)

I agree but I woud prefer if the 2nd body is also 1 series.

I was shooting sitting on the ground.

I think next time I am going to try tripod very low to the ground. Monopod even at its lowest setting is too tall.

agreed to a certain extent, the 40D with a fast focusing lens holds up pretty well plus the extra reach on the prim is nice...not to mention cost
