When I go to print them out, if I choose 8X10 the crop cuts off the top and bottom. Should I not crop as tight or should I crop the original at 8X10? If I crop at 8X10 can I get a decent 4X6 print? The picture will be different for each. I keep a full sized original version then crop a print version to what ever sized I need.

Apr 29, 2008 21:57 | #3 My problem is that I am putting them on a site for people to purchase the photo. Right now, I worry that they would buy the 8X10 and be upset that the crop was wrong. What do most people do on these sites? How do I crop the original picture so that a person could buy a 4X6, 5X7, or 8X10 and be happy with the results?

They resize the photo based upon the ratio chosen by the purchaser and then crop to exact dimensions. I would load the largest size that is of your intended subject (meaning crop out stuff you don't want to be in the picture). The website takes care of the rest.
