I was pleasantly surprised to find this new visitor to our bird feeder -- an Indigo Bunting. I don't recall ever seeing this type of bird before, it almost has a tropical look to it. Hopefully I can get some better shots of this bird over the coming days and weeks.

Aren't they awesome? I hope you get some more opportunities to capture him. Keep some Nyjer seed out, along with black oil sunflower. Hopefully he'll stay around for you.

They are indeed awesome. He has been enjoying the black oil sunflower seeds; I guess that is what attracted him. I think I snapped a picture of a female tonight, but I haven't had a chance to check the picture yet to make sure.

Thanks Karen. This is my first year that I have been real interested in birds. It is amazing how many I am seeing that I don't recall ever seeing before. I hope you are able to get a picture of one soon.

By the way, nice Osprey avatar.

Great shot. I am hoping to see some here this summer. There are birding reports of them being around. :)
