I guess I'll take out the lens in the EP-EX15 and see what that does.

It will then be a hollow spacer, essentially.

You can remove the phillips head screw and open it up, remove the lens and put it back together. Throw the lens in the box and save it should you decide to sell it later.

Most people that buy one of these really just use it to space the eyepiece further back from the camera... I used one on my D30, but not the 1D2N.

Thanks for the idea. I went ahead and did that over the weekend and I actually like it better. I didn't realize how much that extender shrunk the viewing area.

How do you make it fit a MK2? I put mine on but the original eye
piece has a triangular piece stopping it going over the eyepiece extender:confused:

Not sure, actually. I wanted to attach it to my 1D2N and saw it didn't quite fit and never went past that. It's not quite as useful on the 1D series as the other bodies since the 1D eyepieces already stick out a little... But I'm still interested.

I would imagine if it's something silly like a little plastic extrusion while all else remains equal, I'd say maybe an X-Acto knife should make quick work of it.

The EP-EX15 works on the 1D2N but you have to replace the original eye cup with one that fits the 10,20,30,40D's

I use the extender and I do wear glasses, it works great and is definitely purely for ergonomics.

I have tried the EX15 both normal and gutted and while I did love the extra nose space, I really didnt like the way it changed the viewfinder. In either case to me the viewfinder felt like it lost something to me. I have used both styles on a 40D and 5D.

I got one of these, and I love it for what it does (move my face away from the camera) but hate the reduction in viewfinder site, and this past weekend actually removed it because I kept having trouble reading the information at the bottom of the finder.

I am going to try this removing the lens idea, that sounds like it will help a lot!

I am looking for an eyecup that wraps around the side of my face and rotates so I can eliminate the light coming in to the side of my eye, and still turn the camera for portraits.

I used to have this very thing for my old Canon AE-1 Film camera, but can't seem to find one for the EOS digital line. Any one have any idea where I can find one?

Worked just fine on my XT, before I sold it.
