If you could send a letter to yourself in the past, what would it say and how long ago would it be?

I'd send this to myself at age 19.

"Hello, this is you at 45. Listen, you don't know j*ck yet, you wouldn't listen to anyone but me, so here it is.

1. Do not get married before you are 29. To anyone. For any reason. At all. Live with as many as you'd like, but do not marry any of them.
2. Get in shape, stay in shape, now; see #1, it will help
3. Quit smoking. It will kill your mother early if she does not stop.
4. Break up with Marilyn; she's sleeping with Greg
5. Travel while you're young
6. Forget about fear; go for it
7. When they knock on the door in the dorm, it is an RA, don't open it
8. Have fun, stay safe, that's all there is
9. Nobody is talking about you behind your back; they simply don't care, get over it, move on
10. Your boss right now is an a*shole. He's not normal.
EDIT: 11. The winning PA lotto number on 2 Jan 2000 will be xxxxxxxxxx

Signed,
You

Oh yeah, and go back to school as soon as you get out of High School. Don't wait eight years.

I'd go back top to March 1986 and say:
"Listen dickweed, when Randy comes to you and says he has an in to pick up some IPO stock for 10k, listen to him. Don't spend the 10k on a new car, buy the IPO"

Unfortunately my answer at the time was:
"What IPO?" to which Randy answered "Some little company called Microsoft." Again, I unfortunately answered, "you got to be kidding, isn't that the company that's marketing that turn DOS? Get real."

I was such an idiot.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Wow, interesting question.

1. Listen to your mother. You will realize when you get to your 40's, she's a lot smarter than you think now.
2. Quit worrying about what everybody else is thinking. They probably aren't thinking about you at all.
3. Keep in touch with your friends. It's really hard to find them after 30 years.
4. Don't start smoking!
5. Put money in your company's 401K plan from day 1... and leave it there!

You know what though I bet he's still more embarrassed about landing on his arse than I am about getting beat like a dog.

Maybe not actually.
