I ran across this a few minutes ago while killing time at work and figured it's worth a look. I was surprised to see Olympus beating out Canon on this little study.

If it's been posted I appologize for a redundant post. If not, enjoy:)

pretty pointless thing.. i'de take canon, nikon, and sony over olympus any day... just don't like the 3/4th system and the quality is often quite bad (hell, fujifilm's slr like point and shoot has iso400-800 on par with the 510)

those things are always features vs price, never quality/practical features vs price

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Sad part about reviews like that one is there are a lot of people that believe anything they read and then end up spending money on a product that is not what they wanted. I know, my wife is one of them that is that way. After all I now have a Canon 40D she bought me because the guy at Sammy's said he liked it better than the Sony A700 I was looking to buy.

Remember, Stressed spelled backward is Desserts.:)
Suggestions welcome.

Not sure for others, but I gave up reading reviews from Cnet and PC World, after one website highly recommended me to buy my Kodak V610....

before i had my first 400d (about 12months ago now)i bought a olympus e-410 mainly due to the compact size of it. the things i hated most were
1-AF was totaly usless even in good light
2-viewfinder was tiny
3-the odd resolution ratio that they use

needless to say i had it less than 24 hours before taking it back and swapping it for a 400d

I usually don't read those useless reviews but I thought that one just takes the cake. I've never heard of an olympus beating out Canon or Nikon. I just thought it was rather funny and worth a post.

Hogwash, boys, hogwash. If you ever saw any other reviews, you must acknowledge, this is not a review. Not to mention the PC world's rating that rates those cameras within +/-1% around 86%. Imagine PC world would rate finalists for Miss World, I imagine the differences between them would fall within +/- 2% and also, why would you believe what they tell you who's the prettiest - since you've got eyes, can't you tell? Read the real reviews and build your own opinion.

My advice for the people who don't want to read those 'longish' reviews on dpreview.com is to simply buy what most people buy in a class of cameras you're most interested in. Can't miss.

There's this thread here, that invites us to post our absolute best photo. I have no idea what my best photo is, I have no idea what my all time favorite song is, and no one has an idea which the best camera is. There is only a camera that suits you most, including various factors, such as cost and depreciation over time, the lens and accessory system, long term plan and so on.

5D and holy trinity of primes. Now the 90mm TS-E TS-E fly bit me. I hate these forums.

I can't believe anyone could swallow the sh%t they come up with.

On the topic "MacBook Air Versus PC Ultraportable Laptops" on PC world

Snippet from article

"It has only three ports (a headphone jack, one USB 2.0 port and one Mini-DVI port), and no Ethernet"

I guess they don't know the reason it has the name Air. It doesn't need an ethernet port as it's based on wireless technology, it even has a wireless optical drive I believe it can even read CD's and DVD's wirelessly from a Mac or PC. Funny thing is they most likely don't even have a clue about any of these features. Why would you use an ethernet cable on a laptop anyhow!

Trust a PC world to only bring up that it doess't have an ethernet cable and forget to inform about it's wireless capabilities. The more Macs sold the worse of they will be lol.

The Macbook Air is truly in a league of it's own in every department, specially the solid state hard drive version but they make it out to be the poorest of the bunch, funny that.

off topic, but i'll entertain you. macbook air's features are nothing more than just hot air. yes, wireless up the wazoo, but what laptop doesn't have wireless since at least half a decade ago? nobody uses wired on a laptop? how about me and the rest of the working world that needs faster than 1mbps connection most wireless stations provide when there are over 20 clients? how about more than one recessed (not even standard voltage) usb port for the rest of us who have a usb drive AND something else we want to connect on the go (i have headphones i use)? how about a real hdd rather than a pathetic ipod one that will burn up in a few months of use? pc mag did correctly state that macbook air just doesn't have enough ports or power for the client base apple was targeting. that's much better than their rival c-net's review of the 40d, stating that the kit lens was not up to par when they had a 17-40L mounted on the camera.

btw, i agree it's in a league of it's own, but that's a league i want nothing of. i'll take my dell m1210 anyday (or better yet, the new 1330). slightly heavier and chunkier, but it doesn't overheat and i can still edit all the raws i want at the regular chip's speed

Yes I know I wouldn't ever get one either I was just pissed as they made out the other laptops more better.

I agree with you mostly "I had a few to drink earlier" so I didn't think my post through
