Ford versus Chevy my friend...it's not the camera, it's the person using it. When I purchased my Canon I did so strictly based on price...if I could have gotten a similar Nikon, Olympus or Sony for the $400 that I got my Rebel XT for, I would have gone with that instead.

It's wonderful and all to prance around saying "We're #1! We're #1" but remember there are folks out there who've done incredible things with Nikon and the other brands too. Cameras and lenses are just tools and are only as good as the person using them.

Peace,
Jim

Why would you use an ethernet cable on a laptop anyhow!

Connection speed, reliability, security, infrastructure.

Not all companies want their entire network available over the air, regardless of the "security" that be turned on even though a large portion of the employees use laptop computers for portability reasons.

Realistically Olympus haven't been in the mainstream with SLR's since the OM1 days...
Never under-estimate the OM1 though, it was absolutely superb in many ways, and the viewfinder was WAY better than anything you'll get on any DSLR today. But the bottom line is, that although the adverts would have you believe differently, and so would the occasional review such as this, they just aren't in the same league as Canon or Nikon now.

As for Canon being better than Nikon? well... I'm not even going there :p

cheers

Very true it can be a vaunrability especially at the employee level with say an administrator selling access to his employers competitor.

I find my wireless set-up perfect for me.

Speed: I get 8785 kbps download and 788kbps upload wirelessly and it's no different with my ethernet cable plugged in, I have a Gigabit Ethernet connection on my Powerbook but haven't used it for years. I have ADSL2+ which is 20000/1000kbps at theoretical maximum and I am 2-3Km from my phone exchange so these are max speeds possible for me from my location, most of the time I am downloading flat out at 1.2mbps, on large downloads it's always flat out using multiple threads even single files.

Reliability: I haven't had any dropouts or problems since I got my Airport Express and I haven't even turned it off for at least 6 months! I just open my Powerbook and I am online in 2 seconds always.

Security: I use WPA2 128 bit 64 random character password (not just letters and numbers) for my security.

For what I do I wouldn't have it any other way! I once took my Airport express to a friends house and I was online in 5 min on my Mac I just installed the software on her Windows XP PC. In-fact I went through 2 ethernet cables as the connection pin that locks it in snapped and I have had no such bad luck with my Airport Express, just like an old radio it just keeps working ;)

Back on the topic of camera's I can't wait for cameras to have built in WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR! If small mobile phones can have these features it shouldn't be too long I hope before Canon was built in WiFi!

I've had nothing but horrible experiences with Olympus cameras.

If you buy the MacBook Air you must accept its limitations! Too many people try to compare it to a MacBook Pro...

Anyways, a poorly-conceived comparison test... the 4/3 system isn't my cup of tea

I have a OLY E500, and two canon 30D's. OLY is a good product. They just dont offer a wide spread of quality lens. Would I buy another OLY, not after using Canon products. Everyones different for brand, price points, and freqency of use.

FWIW

PCworld know nothing about cameras and it shows.. they might sell some as they are little more than box shifters. I might buy from them at a price but would never ask for advice.
Nor would I buy any thing from them that might need service.

All a bit like getting medical advice from a mechanic.

This BS is aimed at the masses.

I remember buying an xti based on some photo magazine giving it top honors.
It was cheap enough to allow me to figure out that I wanted to pursue this hobby,
much to the bane of those around me.
