$3.62 in the Maryland suburbs of D.C. I've started taking the bus to the Metro rather than driving.

One thing I've noticed when visiting Europe is that most European cities/towns are built for walking whereas things are much more spread out here. Poor planning on our part.

Mine is all free right now thanks to the US tax payers. The locals pay closer to $3.
My wife says she pays $4.00 a gallon for the cheap stuff in NC, and about $.50 more to fuel the little Subaru.

Always happy to hear some critique

So we are paying more than double US prices (so they should stop moaning about high gas prices )[/QUOTE wrote:

And taxes account for how much of that price? 50% maybe...maybe more..;)

We are hovering right around $4 USD per gallon her in San Jose, CA right now. There are several stations that are above 4 up in SF and on the coast and smaller towns it is as high as 4.50. Diesel is through the roof.

Those in the US know that our EU, UK, and AZ counter pay more but we drill, crack and refine right here in CA and still get no break.

go here to see different prices across the US and abroad

The oil companies are making ungodly sums of cash - it's not just one country, company or gov't. They have us by the b*lls (yes i said bills)....

I was at Sam's Club the other day and paid $3.47/gallon and was quite happy. How sad is that?

I was only 1/3 full so I put in about 13 gallons. It didn't hurt as much as when I'm on empty. I can pay up to $65 on one tank now for my Sienna. Even my husband's Prius on empty, he pays $32. He paid around $18 a tank last year.

I think people are finally going to have to realize that oil is limited and we have to find another way. The demand is only going to get worse as the world is becoming more developed and populated. I just wish we started years ago to realize this.

Interesting guys - thanks.

So it appears that the US is paying equivelant to .48 pence per litre, with Australia about .75 pence (assuming my maths - or should that be the calculations in my spreadsheet are correct)

That really makes me mad when the oil companies have just posted massive quarterly profits and the government is still going ahead with another tax increase in September!:evil:

Keep the figures coming!

OK, now I'm not defending the oil companies but they are making their massive profits from the price of crude oil. They make little profit (relatively) from sales of the refined stuff (petrol, diesel, etc)

This topic can only end in one way so I am ending it before it gets to that.

Also please remember the rule for threads in general chat
