Wow, better MTF than the Canon 10-22 by quite a bit.
Slightly worse CA but still...

Looks awesome. I'm not concerned about the CA because I have the 12-24, and in those situations where the CA is visible (not all that often), it is completely correctable in RAW, so I don't even care. Maybe I might trade in my 12-24 for an 11-16, but that would be tough for me...I love my 12-24.

Not surprised. Even though I don't buy everything Rockwell says, assuming he did the basic test shots right on his review, those were extremely impressive. My gut was that this new Tokina was going to set a new standard.

Oh, I have mine arriving tomorrow :D

I'll definitely be posting at least some comments on it. I'll throw in some pics too.

Do Tokina have a USM/HSM equivalent in their range?

No, however, their AF units are both quieter and quicker than both Tamron lenses and Sigma non-HSM lenses. IMO the Tokina AF mechanism is also better than any micro-USM lens I've used.

This may shape up to be a very interesting lens...

Just an add, the price is quite reasonable, cheaper than the Canon 10-22 and is F/2.8, sweet.

That probably explains why its MTF numbers are off the charts

I've been waiting for an 11mm f2.8 prime :)

Not really the smallest range if a zoom ever, unless you are merely going by 16-11 = 5mm. When zooms first came out many were 2X zooms. Quite a small range by today's standards. I own 2 of those. 11 to 16 is quite a difference in FOV anyway.

I'm quite interested in this lens I must say - I'm trying to imagine what I would use F/2.8 at in this range, and if it would render my 17-40 unused! :)

Thanks LR, love your objective reviews and comments.

Now someone stick this on a 1D and FF and see how/if it works! ;)
