With efs 17-55 IS on it's way to me, I thought ... actually still thinking about selling my 10-22 :(. Overlapping is my main reason, but I have this feeling that it is NOT a valid one! Another reason is I want to get a crumpler 7dmh or a monopod... but again, I can still do without these two since I have good tripod anyway and decent bags. How about filters to buy???... oh wait I might get them cheaper in Beijing come August... Or I might just keep both.
So, care to make me feel good if I sell my UWA lens ?:)

Thanks!

Those two lenses overlap very nicely, no need to worry about an UWA overlapping a walkaround lens in this case. The UWA gives you a creative medium that the 17-55 doesn't have (use the mini fisheye effect for cool shots).

However, you will have two of the best Canon-branded EFS lenses ever for crop bodies. Add a 70-200 f4 and you are set.

For quality filters at prices that cannot be beat, check out hvstar.net

Remember FoV differences at the wide end are very visible and become less visible towards the telephoto range.

So 10mm and 17mm will look very different.

Don't get rid of the 10-22. I have a 10-22 and a Tokina fish 10-17. The fisheye is a big difference but I love the 10-22 when I use it>

Don't do it! :)

I thought the same thing when my 17-55mm was in the post. When it arrived I realized the following -

1) I'm glad I dropped my original fear of investing in ef-s lenses, they are both chuffing awesome.
2) after a few months use with no filter I have none of the dust issues people have had
3) there is a very big difference between 17mm and 10mm, and I would really miss the 10-22mm. For me I tend to use the 10-22mm like a prime, I basically leave it at 10mm to maximize the effect.

If you don't tend to use the wide end much and live towards the 22mm then sell it on, but if not then keep hold of it.

Yeah, definitely keep it. These are 2 very different lenses, a little overlap isn't a bad thing.

don't get rid of it. The 17-55 is not a replacement for the 10-22 AT ALL.

Keep it for a little while. It will go up in value after the price increase anyway.

You have the absolute "must have" collection of lenses for your crop body. I LOVED the 17-55 and 10-22, and 70-200. And of course the 60 Macro. Only thing was that i didnt find much use for the 85 much -- i found me using the macro for portraits as well..

but yeah... dont get rid of it yet.
