I'm thinking that it would make a great nighttime shot.

I don't think the camera was quite level. Notice that some power poles and some fence posts are noticeably not vertical.

Composition and lighting is very good. However, it is difficult to make an interesting picture of a train station between trains and with no people.

I had this problem once myself. I simply asked my colleague to pick up a bucket and walk away from the camera. I got him where I wanted him in the picture and everybody was happy. Understand?

I thought the same thing at first, but it looks to me like the horizon at the vanishing point of the tracks is level. Thing is, I keep looking at it, and I can't really tell one way or another for sure.

I agree with the above posts. I also think this particular photo taken at this particular time could have been made better by just eliminating some of the clutter in the image. There's too much info here. the line and the tracks are trying to lead the viewer somewhere but I get cought up in the surroundings along the way.
