Brothers Hockey

Hey again, have posted a few times now so i am getting better at it, lol, anyways here are a few pictures from my brothers peewee hockey tournament a few weeks ago, so here they are

1) i like the overall look of the player and the good action, exposure could be alittle whiter but owell, seeing the players face is what makes the shot for me thou

2) this second one would have benefited from being able to see the net behind the goaly but owell i cant control the players, anyways exposure and composition is pretty good, alittle whiter in this photo and also have a good view of his face

so lets hear ur comment, but please keep the comments away the players age

First image looks a bit dark on my monitor. It is nice that you have captured their eyes, which I find is the biggest problem when shooting minor hockey because of the face masks. Try to get some action shots with 2 or 3 players in it and the puck, but if you are going to just key on an individual, try to get them carrying the puck, with eyes up and looking ahead...i.e. a "hockey card" shot. (See some examples HERE). Other than dark in #1 your exposure, WB and focus look good. You don't show your EXIF data but ensure you are shooting hockey, even this level, with a minimum shutter speed of 1/400 or 1/500 to freeze action the best. With most minor hockey rinks you will need to be wide open (f2.8 for me) but sometimes I can do f3.5. ISO is ususually 1600 or 3200 and even then I will need to bump up exposure slightly in post processing.

hey thanks for the tips, i will have to keep them in mind for next year, here is a few more from that tourney that might be a little better, the probleme was that i wasnt shooting with a fast enough shutter so the fast action ones with the puck didnt turn out to well
