If you want real reliability and increased range without Pocket Wizard prices, the Elinchrom Skyports are the way to go. However, the Cactus triggers are a very good and very cheap way to get into off camera lighting. You'll probably want to upgrade eventually, but as long as they work right, they should be perfect for now.

My village called. I was told that they missed me.

Speedotron users, untie!

Another (somewhat off-topic) follow-up.

My package from Hong Kong arrived today - I ordered a radio shutter trigger for my 20d and didn't realize it too was a Cactus product. It also worked perfectly.

So out of 6 Cactus devices, all work flawlessly.

Like Lotto states, chose the 16 channel versions as they fire more models and uses common batteries.

What would be the best place to pickup a V2 kit within the US?

In that case check the B&S section of this forum. Most stores I've seen carry these have really expensive and/or really old versions of the triggers.

Gadget Infinity also sell these directly on their website (at a higher cost).

my non-technical test allow me to shoot 1000-1200 frames with less than 10 misfires. it's either my flash went out of juice or the tx/rx batt were getting weak.

replace tx/rx with fresh battery and misfires will be kept to a minimum.

i'm shooting at 8-20 feet from the subject distance. ymmv when shooting with more than that .. say 200 meters from the subject

I have 5 revievers, and one of them is not working properly, it misfires every 15 times or so, sometimes more. The other seem to work fine with no misfires.

These Cactus things are good so people like me with small budgets can try offcamera lighting outside. I am very exited, coming from a 100% bluescreen studio background, now learning to shoot real models with real backgrounds.
