Yes, I realize this has been posted before, after looking searching, but I have a sort of "special case", I guess you could say. I plan to use this camera for animation, so I need a live feed on my computer. There are a whole ton of other important thing in animation, but I won't bore you with the details. They aren't really important anyway.

So, I bought a A85 off of eBay. The seller said the camera was in excellent working condition, and the seller had a high enough rating, so I am 99.9% sure that they were not lying. The camera it's self works great. However, when I try hooking it up to the computer, the computer does not recognize it. I tried everything; using a different cable, unplugging other hardware, such as my webcam, and game controller (both from Logitech), ect.

When I tried uninstalling the WIA driver, I couldn't find any of the files I was told to delete, yet the computer insists that the WIA driver is installed, so I can't install it again.

I also hear the term "Communication Settings" continuously popping up, and how I need to change them to Automatic, or Manual, or the like, but I cannot find them on my camera.

I also tried calling Canon. I was told to turn several things on/off in the "Services" window, and that didn't help.

Also, "Imaging Devices" does not show up in the Device Manager when I have the camera plugged in.

The camera doesn't work on my Mac OS X either, though that may have something to do with the fact that I plugged in the camera before I installed the software.

Any idea what's going on, and how I can fix it?

EDIT: I finally was able to uninstall the WIA driver, so I reinstalled it. When I got to the part where I was prompted to plug in the camera and turn it on, I did, and the message came up telling me that the computer did not recognize the camera. I exited that, went back to the installation, and clicked okay. The installer then said "Driver Update Failed". So does this have anything to do with the camera?
