I travel to Nashville frequently on business but just discovered the Shelby Bottoms Greenway. I only had a few minutes yesterday but snapped this Chickadee with my 20D and new 300mm F4L IS lens with 1.4X TC handheld. I can't wait to go back and spend an afternoon.

I would appreciate any suggestions for improvement.

Very nice shot of a very cute bird! Sorry, no advice for you, I'm way too far from being a good photographer to give advice. Just wanted to say well done.

This is a great capture and you were handholding the camera...even better! No advice from me either...I'd say keep doing what you're doing but I'm a rookie also. ;)

Thanks guys. The background is a little blown out but I had to do that in order to see the eye. My PP skills are not where they need to be.

Nice composition. You could have dialed in some negative exposure compensation. What post processing program do you use? If you shoot in RAW, you can fix some of the blown highlights, and it looks like it has a little bit of a green cast, which is easy to fix in RAW.

Thanks Gary. I guess I was 12 feet or so away. I was surprised I was able to get that close. Must be used to people walking the trail there.

I did shoot RAW and I use Photoshop CS3. I actually boosted the exposure some because I could not see the eye. Not sure about the green cast. I am using an inexpensive ViewSonic LCS that has never been calibrated.

It might be a reflection from the green, but in CS3 ACR, you can use the Temperature slider at the top to bump it more toward the blue side to cool it down. It may not help, but I would try that. I just click the little slider handle, then tap the down key 5 or 6 times. Usually all it takes. :)
