First track effort....

I found track harder to shoot than soccer.....let me know how to get better.

Hard to tell without being there and knowing where you were able to go.

But the first thing is to make sure the focus doesn't drift to someone or something in the background.

Either you have a serious BF issue or the focus drifted off the main target and went to the girl in the back right of the photo.

Maybe get a little lower. I shot "track" once and it was my 6yo at a elemetary school fun "meet".
