My first ever air-to-air shots with a couple of others thrown in... Also my first ever ride in an open cockpit.

Nice shots John! A2A looks like it would be good fun, but challenging at the same time. I might have to try it out some time... :)

Very nice series of shots # 2 being my fav of the group minus the urban sprawl. I wonder how much fuel was wasted to capture those shots with the price of fuel these days.:);)

Well, those shots made my day! Just an excellent thing to see early on a Saturday morning!

I don't think any of the people in the ten planes in the flight consider it wasted... No more so than someone driving one of those big V-8 powered SUVs.

Indeed I agree, and I also dont think the people watching that Jet truck felt that it was a waste either. :)

My SUV is a 6 clyinder.:)

As far as Shockley is concerned, I know the kids love it but I think it's an apalling waste of fuel that could be better utilized by the flying performers, especially those flying the older jets like the F-86 and Migs.

Really uncalled for. Especially with your post count in this section...

JW you "officially suck..." :p

What a great way to spend the day. Beautiful work sir!! Looks like it was a great day to fly too!

How'd you manage the low pass over the Midway? San Diego ATC must have been in a really good mood.

Well Done!!

Those are very nice shots, lucky him to get the opportunity to do some air to air.
I kinda felt the same thing when he was tearing my thread up a bit about the jet truck a few days back .Its not meant to be malicious or an attack on him. I am sorry if anyone is offended, not my intention.

This was done in conjunction with the Red Bull Air Races taking place in San Diego this weekend, so everyone was very cooperative.

No, but he was in the flight. He now has two Stearmans, including one formerly owned by Steve McQueen. He just got it back after a full restoration. He was flying that one in a different portion of the flight. We had 10 planes up from a Stearman fly-in he's holding at his museum this weekend.

Andrew, point well taken... My preferences for antique aircraft over jet trucks is showing. Each has it's place.
