Now that I'm getting my 70-200 f2.8 and have my lovely Sigma 24-60, along with my XTi and 550EX.. I was thinking it would be handy if I could piece together a cheap DSLR setup to keep in the car.

Maybe a 10D, 300D or 350D
kit lens perhaps
Tamron 70-300 or some other cheap telephoto
speedlite 380EX (recently aquired for $50 locally :))

so a setup for under $500

anyone have a "mobile" setup in their car or whatever, "just incase" ?

My main camera usually ride shotgun. I shoot at many red lights. I'm with Imulderi. Just like a wallet, it's always there.

I always have at least 2 bodies with me. If I am going on a specific photo venture I will have 3 or 4 with me. Alway be prepared.;):D

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Same here. I have a nice case and keep it handy most of the time.
