Which is better?

I'm a noob when it comes to features, and what all that jargon means... So I'm turning to the pro's.. ;)

Both are 8MP

Sony - $1000 Canon - $650

Many people that would have steered you toward the Sony yesterday will now steer you toward the Canon Pro1 today, thanks to an update Canon posted this morning to fix what most perceive as the Pro1's major flaw, the speed of locking on to focus. Those (including myself) who updated the camera's firmware today report it's like having a new camera.

I'm wondering why Canon didn't get it right the first time.......

Simple. Marketing strategies are created and put in place long before production begins. The decision was made to introduce the camera on a certain date...and that deadline had to be met. They went with the best product they could provide as of that date. Fortunately for us, they continued development...hence the firmware update. It sure beats seeing them abandon the Pro1 and then suddenly have Pro2 come out with all these features in it, doesn't it?

Yes - I'd really like to have the Pro 1, now, even though I already liked the "original" one.

How does Pro1 compare to G6? Sorry if this is a different topic...
