Im thinking that i probably should have gone for a used 5d. It seems like the better one to have for what I want to do. After paying $1600 for it do you have any idea how much I could still sell it for? Anybody know of any trusted ways to sell expensive things like this other than paypal?

This sporty enough for you ? :D:lol:
Having said that, I usually use the 1DMk2 for sports, but it was in the hands of another photographer on the other side of the track at the time....so I was using the FF.

That second shot looks great Kohr. The 1Ds has the same amazing AF as the 1D, no?

Yes I really like how fast it does work on both. And the sound of both shutters is a plus as well they sound like film cameras.

A bit of a followup on that: yes, I have found the both the 1DS and the 1DMk2 are very accurate regarding AF and exposure.
The problem I have shooting sports with the full frame is that the camera is rather slow at 3 FPS, and more to the point, it's very slow to empty the buffer to the card. I shoot RAW, so there are times when it has me waiting, which can be a problem. The same problem exists with my 1D2....however, the 'problem' is pushed further out, because it is a quicker camera to dump the buffer. I posted the two shots above of the bikes just to show that you can in fact shoot 'sports' with a "S"....but having said that, it's not my number one choice. The shot of the green bike....it was nearly stopped at the time, so it really is not a very good example of 'sports mode'.....but I thought I'd throw it in there....it's more an example of getting your timing right.

That is what I told my friend the 1Ds is really nice doing portraits flowers and other things that I want to take my time on but I'll use the 1D Mark II for when I want to do sports or other fast moving subjects. But both are fast on focusing. I really like the 1d Cameras

I guess in my case is better if I go for the 1D instead of the 1D's I shot a lot of car at the race track and planes.

....be very clear that a 1D is a different camera from a 1DMk2, or a 1DS. Read up on the differences between the models so you are sure what you are buying.

I totally agree with this... I've spent a bunch of time with my 1Ds MkI for the past couple of weeks and I'm learning that both cameras have similar features, and both have an "Achilles heel". Once these limits are figured and you learn how to work within/around those limits... you'll find these to be very powerful tools. The 1Ds is a very capable camera body and I'd say that though it's not as new as the 5d's are, it still kicks butt!

I'm still getting used to the "wide-ness" of my wide angles... full frame is so very nice. Yes, I wish the frames per second speed could be faster, but that is why I still have my 1D MkI... which I wish had more megapixels.
