My gear's insured new for old.

I'd hand the 1Ds over to my mugger with a smile on my face and book an early flight home to sort out my new 1Ds3.

Sod it, they can have the entire bag and I'll start from scratch....

It's all insured on my contents policy with ASB anywhere in NZ - even if it gets nicked from your car, accidental damage etc. If I go on holiday, I take out specific travel insurance to cover the gear I carry. Insurance here is much cheaper than the UK and there seems to be far less small print.

Never made a claim, but it's great for customising exactly what you want covered, where etc.

I'm selling my in mint condition canon 1ds 11.1mp on ebay right now if anyone's interested. It's got only 848 actuations on it. Also selling canon 17-40 L which has only been used for one week.

Here is something I use with my 1d Cameras ,My backpack I like to use is to small for 2 1D Cameras but will hold 1 plus 3 lens so when I want both cameras I use this on my belt or with a strap

It will hold the 1Ds or 50d W/Grip and is pretty comfortable to carry around.
I bring this up since I'll be using that combo tomorrow at a airshow.

I still yearn for my 1D Classic... those tiny 4MB RAW files was such a pleasure to work with. My 2GB CF cards were perfect sized and lasted a long time. I could click away indefinitely and never ever had problems with "busy" or lag. Just carry an extra battery or two and you're set for almost any gig.

Let me un-complicate it for you... Canon no longer service this model anymore. They might if they happen to have parts for it, but now they are refusing to take them in. Sell it before you're stuck with an antique. The 1Ds is also on the verge... go for Mark2 instead.

thats what i´ve thought.
but i thought..waiting for the release of the MkIV would be good for the price of the Mk2 or Mk2n or even Mk3

Sell your 1D for $500-600 and put another $500 for the 1D2...
