Let me un-complicate it for you... Canon no longer service this model anymore. They might if they happen to have parts for it, but now they are refusing to take them in. Sell it before you're stuck with an antique. The 1Ds is also on the verge... go for Mark2 instead.

1 Euro = 1.4 USD

That means he's giving you $560 for your 1D which is a fair price and
you have to pay $1400 for the 1D2 which is on the high side.

I would *IF* the 1D2 has low clicks, pristine, and complete box set. Otherwise try to buy it in the USA and have someone take it to you in Germany. USA prices is around $1000.

right now he wont sell 1D2...no one in stock

I've had the 1D for quite awhile now, and I've grown to it's liking, but I've recently been thinking about possibly upgrading to a 1D2 or 1D2n. not quite sure on the route there yet, for funding wise and effectiveness. The noise can get pretty bad sometimes on the 1D, only thing pressing forth is the 1/500th sync, which is a plus.

I'd rather take my chances, keep the camera and use it. If Canon can no longer service the camera when it finally dies, I suspect they would offer a 1Ds III (or whatever model is newest at that time) for an additional cash top up. It would be disappointing if Canon didn't offer this to a devoted customer.

But then again anything is possible these days. Really though, my feel is that the 1Ds has already depreciated to the extent that it's really worth more than what people are prepared to pay for it. Looking at it another way, unless I were desperate, I wouldn't sell a house that's obviously worth $400K for only $250K when I could just sit in it and use it as a roof over my head.

Well I've been using it for a few weeks now. I love the thing dearly with the exception of the batteries. Big and not very good compared to Li-Ions. Does anyone make Li-Ion AA cells? Would they work in a 1Ds battery pack? Why has nobody created an adapter to stick Rebel Li-Ions in these things??!

I think Ill hold onto mine. I love my camera. Look at my blog for some of my recent shots. Regardless of what others may think these shots come out the way I want them. I just realised that the recent ones Ive posted have been using the 30d as much as the 1ds. So check which camera was used if your interested in looking. Landscapes are a little later on.

After much deliberation whether to got for a 1Ds classic or 1Dmk2, I opted for the fullframe option a couple of days ago Despite the dealer claiming the sensor was cleaned (even asked me to go have a coffee and return later) I took some shots during my return journey through the Scottish Highlands and found the sensor was filthy. But what the h3ll, it can be cleaned - I'm still happy as a sandboy! Pics to follow soon.

I decided to call the shop today and spoke to the manager, who was extremely helpful. I mentioned a few wee issues with customer service from the staff as well as the sensor and the fact that the battery dies after only about 50 shots. Although I never expected anything back, I just felt that he should know what had happened. I was very impressed when he then apologised and told me he will be sending me a new battery FOC! Anyway, here are a few shots form yesterday and messing around in the house today:

How much $$ did you pay for it??

They had it advertised at £999, then I saw a price drop to £799. Swapped a couple of lenses (70-200 sigma and Canon 28-135IS USM) plus a few £££. Only 20,000 shots taken with it. The cover for the sync and remote release socket is missing, but apart form that it's spot on.

KSG Photography you got some good example of what this great camera can produce.
