E James P, thank you for the information. It seems like Ec-D is just what I am looking for. I have to wait two weeks though, because it was out of stock.

And I still love the way this camera has a that beautiful film grain look in the out of focus areas.

Did someone mention "film-like" grain in the OOF region of 1Ds files...;)

I miss this beauty! Wish I had some engineering skills, because I would love to shoehorn the 1Ds processor and sensor into a 5D...wishful thinking!

Hi all, long story short i currently shoot Nikon d300s/d200 various len's. i do portraits and the odd wedding on a non professional basis at the moment. I used to shoot canon 350d,20, 30d but switched 2 months ago due to the draw of accurate af, what i didnt know was that it came at the expense of more noise and aweful orange skin tones that take ages to put right in post.
Im thinking that the 1d series cameras should have better af and the full frame versions should have better noise handling, Is this correct ?
If i sell all my nikon gear i could afford a used 1ds and a 40d as back up with a few nice prime lens and flash. Would you think the 1ds would be the right camera for weddings/portraits in your opinion (the people who have one).
Many thanks
scott

I have a 1Ds but to be honest I don't believe that getting one would help you much.
The d300s is a fine camera similar to the canon 7D.
The noise handling of your d300s should be way better than the 1Ds.
The noise and aweful orange skin tones you describe seems to indicate wrong whitebalance and low light/high ISO
Can you post some pictures with exif data
perhaps we can figure out your problems

To be fair, that link's a bit of a joke.

Hi guys. I have decided to sell my 1DS and move on to something more managable for my shooting needs. I have it FS in the classified section and here's the link to the listing.

Hey all I managed to do some shooting with the 1ds but 45 minutes (was on my taco break) doesn't give you much time lol.

But if anyone is at the Duxford air show this weekend lookout for this tractor i had to deliver lol

Thanks E James P it had been raining on and off so there was a really good moody sky here is the original and then the tweaked version, the composition is a bit off and the lens is not on the same level as a L but i never paid any where near as much for my sigma 15 to 30 mm :)
