So...I have now sold AND bought a camera in the same day.

Payment sent, 1Ds will be here soon! It's been an eventful day.

Thanks again, altitude, for your wonderful matchmaking skills :D

Wow that is an eventful day. I have yet to sell a body, I'll need to soon in order to slim the shelves. Strange how it feels like you're selling off one of your kids. Maybe because you've come to learn so much about that particular one.

Hey guys,
I just picked up a 1Ds in great condition a few days ago. I'm waiting on an adapter to use my 55mm Olympus f/1.2 lens and I bought a few new batteries since it only came with 1 good one. Looking forward to contributing more to this discussion! I was a little surprised how slow it is (compared to a 20D, which I've used before), but I'm really liking the photos it spits out and amazing build quality.

Congrats on joining the Club!

The LCD is almost frustratingly slow eh? It's best just to almost ignore it and limit its use to the odd Histogram check.

ALSO! One thing to be aware of is the filenames of your files. If you notice that they're up at the 9000s... the Card will slowly appear to get smaller over time until your newly formatted card is empty but the Camera won't write to the card. If that happens, it's because it got to 9999 and needs the filename counter reset in the Main Menus. Or you can create a new folder.

It happened to me while I was shooting where it said "Card Full" after four shots on an empty 4Gb card so I figured I'd pass that little tidbit on. lol

Good to know about the card issue, actually I feel like I read something about that in the manual. Oh and it's like you read my mind, I do only use the LCD screen for histogram haha. After the first couple of sets, I realized that the display was very misleading. I'm also trying very hard to break the habit of chimping but man is that hard.

I'm looking forward to seeing the results of that Oly 55mm 1.2.

I am still having lots of fun with my 1DS Mk1, it still manages to surprise me with the quality of images it produces, even when compared with some of my newer cameras.

Perhaps the 1DS III?

If I had to peacemeal together a payment for a 1Ds, I don't think I can afford a 1Ds3.

And, forced induction on my car comes next on my list of things "to-do"

Turbo or s/c?

I wonder if the 1d IIN has updated buttons/technology. I saw for sale on craigslist for $777 recently.

that's a pretty good deal for a MkIIn.

you get the use of picture styles, faster operation and better menus in the IIn if i remember correctly.

I live in between two different Dinan service centers.... And only 30 minutes door to door from Dinan HQ....

Super'd. Unless I somehow manage a trade up to an M5/M6.

But that is years off.

Back on topic here, finally got to put the 1Ds through the ropes and it worked beautifully. The images speak for themselves, this is a shot almost straight out of cam. I just blurred out a couple of fuzzies in the hair, and look at that eye! The eye brows!
