Well, I would have had my 1Ds yesterday, but I'm now laying in a hospital bed after an emergency appenectomy (arrived 2:15 am yesterday). So, as soon as they discharge me, I will head to the post office! :)

Whoa, these last couple of days have been a rollercoaster for you! Hope everything went well and you get outta there soon.

I think generally it is for the weather-sealed body, awesome autofocus, burst rate (on the 1d), build and overrall quality. The 1Ds was $8000 new and now can be had for around $800, what a steal right?

For me I had wanted to go full frame for a long time, especially after buying some older film cameras. My initial plan was to get a 5D but the 1Ds practically fell into my lap. I can say that I am thoroughly pleased. The 1Ds is full frame while the 1D classic is 1.3x APS-H. Lastly, a lot of people are picking up the 1D classic because of its unique CCD sensor vs. the other CMOS sensors.

No kidding. I woke up with severe abdominal pain, it took them about 6 hours to diagnose as acute appendicitis. I'm just sore now, I should be discharged within the next 12 hours. Then, I can start sharing some pictures!

Couldn't have said it better myself! Those are all reasons that I ended up getting both of them.

The 1Ds is also weather-sealed. The only advantage of the 1D is the 1/500 X-Sync and fps as the rest is essentially the same.

Ben: Careful lifting the 1Ds for a bit after you put the 100-400 on it... you might pop a stitch when you pick it up! ;) I kid! Hope you heal up fast!

Great photos everyone!

I am busy with a 365 project, a photo for every day of the year. Since I get little time during the week for photography most of my "during the week" images are macro images taken in my garden. My current macro setup is most of the time my 1DS with a Sigma 150mm, f2.8 EX HSM macro lens and a Canon flash so the old 1DS is seeing plenty action:D

Here is today's image.

My doctor said more than 5 pounds is out of the question, so I'll be lucky to use 1Ds and my 50mm! I went and picked it up about 30mins ago, and I am loving it!

Alright guys, I have had the chance to experiment with my 1Ds and I am LOVING it.
Unfortunately, I'm very limited in where I can go, and the angles I can get (I'm still bitter about that surgery ). The light has also been very poor, and generally made it difficult to keep the ISO down.

I'll post up some samples but they'll likely be f/1.8 (SOFT) and ISO-1250 (NOISY) so be gentle! All will be SOOC (too lazy to edit).
