Hey I get the same circular bokeh pattern with my 70-200 F4 as well! This was shot at f/4.

When Carl Zeiss and 1Ds meet... I love it. Probably going to get rid of my Nifty Fifty I think!

Trying out my 50mm f/1.7 Planar when I grabbed this shot last night. Used my flash on-camera with a 6x8" Softbox at 1/4 power to fill him in. :)

Loving the Zeiss! To me that fill flash matches the ambient perfectly. Gotta fix my zebra 50mm 2.8 so I can post some Zeiss love. It's got a stuck focus ring.

Yea it's a Jena, got it for like $5 because it was semi busted. The focus was not moving and focus point was stuck at past infiniti. I started taking it apart last night, looks as though someone had tried to fix it before and failed putting it back together. I was able to free up the lens a little bit but ran into a wall when I couldn't remove the focus ring from the cup it sits in. I need a spanner wrench to get the two apart. The way it is now the focus ring can move from .35m to .44m but I'm unable to reassemble the lens in a way to make it actually focus at the correct distance. Instead when mounted it goes from about 3m to maybe nearing infiniti. From what I hear these particular lenses are pretty cheap so I may just pick up a working one later on. I still dream of a Flektogon close focus.

Sounds like quite the little project.

I've been looking for something Zeiss and wider than 50mm now. That CZJ 35/2.4 looks rather appealing but expensive on eBay.

I have a Tamron in 35mm and I'll say that it's a great focal length for the 1DS. Yep that 35mm 2.4 flektogon has quite a following. One day, one day.

Here's a shot this morning with the Zebra, the highlight control of the 1DS really shines with these older lenses. I thought "lemons" were appropriate considering the state the lens was in:

It's 12:33pm here, so pretty much high noon. I'm amazed that I can still get detail in both highlights and shadows:

My 1Ds with a 50 1.8 II. The AF on the nifty stopped working a couple days later.

Hey guys i was looking round for a sigma 70-200mm f2.8 as a canon was way out of the question money wise, then my car gave up on me a month ago, so all my camera funds (which wasn't a lot) had to go towards another car. Got the car sorted, then over the weekend i saw a older sigma 70-210mm f2.8 APO a bit battered but the glass clean and clear. It was going for £150, i thought, nah it can't be re-chipped it will throw a error when stopped down..........but no, works with no errors stopped right down, well the next thing i thought was, its got to be soft wide open...........but no its quite sharp, not by todays standards but good enough for the price. As for slow focus, well its never going to worry a canon L lens but the image of the car shows it could focus on something moving at around 60 mph, that image was straight out of the camera just re-sized for here. The second one was just says to you mmmmmmmmm mint sauce lol.

nice score on the lens!

hmmmm... i wonder if all the old Sigma APO glass would work? I've seen the 400mm going for a decent price before.
