What's up 1DS gang? It's been some time since I sold my 1ds and it has been a bad ride for me since. Anyway, after 4 bodies from as many manufcturers, I have sold everything and guess what? I purchased the 1DS, AGAIN!
I thought I'd wanted higher than 1200 ISO, I thought I wanted speed, I thought I wanted so many things that the 1DS did not give me but WAS I WRONG! Nothing felt right in my hands anymore and I just this evening, I got a great find on ebay with the 28-135mm for $899 and that baby is on it's way. Every camera I owned I compared it to the 1DS and that was making me totally unhappy. Now my plan is to ONLY stay with the Canon FX cameras and I'll add a 1DS MKII next year and I'll be set.

Well then, welcome back ! Yeah, when I use mine, sometimes it's seems a little odd that it's a bit slower to wake up from sleep compared to my 1Dmk2. But it's all forgiven when I see the files out of this old jewel ! This old camera is addictive.

Will keep this quote in mind in case I ever want another camera bw!

Played with the 50 iso setting of this camera. Used a 50mm sigma ex macro lens. The wire is les. than 1mm.

Stated this a few times already but can't say it enough, even now that I own the MKII: no way I would ever let my 1Ds go... :D :D :D

Here's a picture of my 1Ds with some lenses and a remote. The remote is a nice addition and works up to 30 feet away with auto focus. The 135mm f2 Canon lens is also a winner on this camera but a little pricy. Maybe some others could post images of their favorite gear with the 1Ds also....Thanks and enjoy

Just came back from Samy's Camera with a gorgeous new (for me) 1DS. The ebay one didn't work out so I had to return it but the one I got only has 13526 actuations. Still a virgin. So the battery is charging and I will be posting soon.

Some recent pics I took outdoors with the camera. By the way do you store the camera when not using with the batteries in the body? I also shoot with the 1D mk ii and 5D ii and alternate between the 1Ds so I do not use the bodies every day. Sometimes it could be a week or two before I pick it up again. If it is not long term is it okay to leave the battery in? The reason being I notice that the battery compartment of the 1D series can get dirty and I want to keep out as much dust intrusion as possible.

Some more shots taken with the 1DS, have to say I like the color it produces straight out of the camera even more than the 5D mk ii, very accurate and dynamic range is very good without washing out highlights.

If you have one you can store the camera with a battery adapter in it (the dummy from the DC coupler kit) to keep the dust out ;)

Here's one on my super fast trip from Denver to LA. On the way we stopped at Arches and Zion. This is on the road to Zion. Hope you like these and more to come later.

Here's another shot of some old cameras using the 1Ds and Canon 135mm f2 L at f22.
