Problem with S1 IS image

Hi, My sisters S1 IS has a problem. The CCD screen is black when taking picture or trying to frame a shot. The screen is obviously working as you can see th menu writting and view past picture taken but any pics taken now appear as Black on the screen and when downloaded on the computer.
its as if the lens cap is on it! But its not!.
Would appreciate some of your thoughts. Cheers Paul

I just had the same thing happen to my S1. Found out there is a recall on this camera (and many others). I sent mine in and last week received a reconditioned S5 as a replacement. I'm not complaining!

Yeah the S1 IS very well could be crap, the S2 as well. I only thought the S3 and S5 were good personally. :)

And yeah, lol, if i were youi would not be complaining either!

The S1 and S2's are recalled?

Not recalled, however if a specific problem arises Canon will repair or replace any of the affected models. But a lot of people wouldn't agree that the S1 or S2 were crap.

I don't know about the S2( I was guessing bc i never hear anything about it) I hear negitive thing about the S1. Nothing but good things about the S3 and S5 though.
