Honest feetback reguired

Hi,

This is an early morning shot taken of Lake Windermere in the Lake District, UK.

Looking for honest feedback for this shot. Been working on my composition lately and wanted to know if I was going in the right direction.

Please be honest, if you don't like say but explain why so I can learn.

Tony, composition is fine, but post processing needs work.

As far as composition, the hill along the left edge should be cropped off as there is not enough of it. Along the right edge you have a boat chopped in half and it should be cropped off as well. The bottom edge, you have a rock the is chopped off at its bottom edge and it should be cropped as well.

One thing you can't fix is the sail reflection falls onto the large foreground rock. Would have been better if it was fully reflected.

Post processing: The sky is not very lively. It looks as if you tried to bring it around but it is still not very interesting. You might try carefully post processing in a new sky. The rest of the image needs contrast and saturation bumped up. The white thing in the water should be removed and the stick in the upper, left quadrant.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. It always helps to have another pair of eyes!

Never noticed the boat chopped in half, so yeah needs to go! Again, agree about the rock and the white thing floating in the water ( I think that this is buoy but not sure).

Currently, I am working on my pp and will continue to post on here for feedback.

The things that Gary suggested are spot on.

Learn how the eye travels across the image (upper left to lower right, like we read), try rotating the image to see if the eye is drawn to the same place
and is that the focus point that you had in mind when you composed the picture.

In regards to composition, the current comp is just ok, But I think this image has possibilities of two separate outcroppings.

In regards to saturation, sharpnes and focus it is pretty much common for a digital camera. A little photoshop and you could possibly have something really terrific.

Compositions not bad, but I reckon the use of a polariser to get to see underneath the water slightly in the foreground would've been fantastic.
