Well, as luck would have it, BHPhoto showed the 1DS Mark II in stock early this morning (I had to read it three times to believe it said "In-Stock" and I placed my order immediately with overnight shipping. Now I await "ever so patiently" the shipping info. If their system is as good as I've been told, they've not booked it without it being in stock. That being the case, I will have it in my hands tomorrow. I can't wait, I've been watching the rumour mill sites for months on this, fighting the urge to buy the DCS/C. I'll let you know my honest thoughts about it once I run it through it's paces.

Posting of shots

I most certainly will. As luck would have it, I have my own servers so I can post links to larger images quite easily. I'll be happy to do that. As I know I wanted real life examples myself but of course ended up having to rely on early sample images from reviewers and those on the canon site.

Shipped today, I'll have it tomorrow...I love BHPhoto

These guys just rock. I've yet to have an order that I wasn't happy with how they handled. I was nervous about this one due to the scarce availability of this camera. Entire order has shipped (I of course bought a spare battery, new flash cards an SD card and the 3 year warranty.) I plan on picking up the Wireless File Transfer add-on when it becomes available as well, or after my bank account recovers from the virtual drive buy shooting it just received today at 7:00am.

I heard the 1DsMII wasn't really that good.
I tell you what, I will trade you straight up for my 20D.
And I can send it right away so you won't be without a camera long.

Heck, I'll give you my first born. He's a freshman in college so I'll really be getting the good end of the deal.

I'd love that camera, but you can almost buy a slightly used Honda Accord instead. But then again, you probably have a very nice car already. I know I do.

Congratulations,
Glad you could find one in a semi-reasonable period of time.

If my darn day job and bad weather would stop getting in my way I would have been playing with mine more. As it is I have only taken a little over a 1000 shots with it so far in the week I have had it.

I also had fun earlier today showing it off when for the fun of it I set it on small jpeg and continuous and just held the trigger down. Probably not as much fun as on a 1DM2, but I got tired of pushing down before it got tired of takening them at 4FPS. I took about 70 shots in that batch and the red light was out before I could get my head around, so I am guessing it would have gone for all 500+ shots before stopping if I let it.

And if I haven't mentioned it, I love have wide angle lenses being wide angle lenses.

Have fun.

Congratulations on the 1DS MKII jhankins. I just recently found this site, and I've learned so much here already. I've had a D60 for a couple of years now and have been pretty happy with it. But today, I took the plunge and bought a 1D Mk II, a 17 - 40 L F4, 70 - 200 F2.8 L IS, and a 100 - 400 L IS. Now I need to buy and train a gorilla to lug this stuff around for me.

Enjoying all the knowledge here.

Best,
Keith

Congrats on the new beast!

I saw your site yesterday, and see some lovely pics.

All with a 10D?
:)

I'll be several years off a 1Ds mkII equivalent.
I was in fact looking at perhaps a new 20D or a 2nd hand 1Dmk II, in approx 4 months. I'm hoping a 2nd hand 1Dii can drop in price quickly with the release of a better one. Doubt it. So maybe a 20D with 1 or 2 shafts of glass.
