cardinal, brown headed cowbird, and purple finch (I think)

this mean cardinal had quite the stare

cool I thought that at first but from the book I have (Birds of Michigan) the house did not look like it had as much color

oh well :)

Yes, the Purple Finch are more raspberry colored, a bluer red and it extends over more of their body. The males have less streaking than the male House Finches. Here's one I shot in 2006 ...
