I just received an e-mail response from B&H about the Canon lens rebates. He told me that for now the May 18th rebates are a RUMOR. That on the 18th they will know. If Canon USA has rebates, they'll be participating in the program.

Thanks for actually calling and getting an answer from someone who sells the cameras instead of just uses them!

I've been waiting for my 40D, so another week surely won't kill me!:D

What about amazon? I bought a 40D on the 24th and they have a thirty day no restocking fee policy. Do you think they will make me rebuy it or just give me the discount at current price?

it is no longer a good price...he can get it for $200 less

he's got 14 days to return the product...if the price goes down within those 14 days...it's certainly acceptable to try and get the lower price....any store would/should do that for the customer...and i don't think he's complaining...he's trying to save money...what any logical person would do

Thank you, someone is paying attention.

Nikon D300 and other non canon stuff, I just like this place. MOOOHAHAHAHA :p

Yeah, it looks like everyone just increased their 40D prices.

I am buying a 40D as soon as the rebates begin.

Ditto, in my BH and CC shopping carts ready for the price reduction. Circuit City has a 10% off local pick-up for the kit, I hope it is still offered after the price change or BH will get the clicky.

Well, I just purchased a 70-200 f2.8 IS and a 100-400 IS 2 weeks ago not knowing if and when the rebates would actually happen. My reason for buying was to do it before the price increase. Guess what....the price on the 70-200 is now $30 less on the site! Yes I will call and ask for the reduced price and about a credit for the upcoming rebates ($100 + $125 = $225). That kind of money makes it worth my while to make a couple phone calls. I have nothing to lose.

I have read several post here and other forums about this same issue. Not having any experience personally with Amazon but from what I have read, Amazon is very consumer friendly on matters like this. The way to work around this is simple. Claim buyers remorse within the 30 day return period then repurchase the same item at the reduced price from the rebate.

Just my 5 cents worth.

Yes, Amazon has quite a flexible return/refund policy. Just be aware that if you return something expecting to get a quick credit to your charge card so you can buy the discounted version, it's takes several business days for your credit to post. I returned a lens- Amazon received it 4/25/08 credit to my account posted 5/5/08.

No more doubting, folks. Saw this on the Fred Miranda forums:
http://www.adorama.com …rnal&article_num=051208-3 (external link)

And according to that page the camera + printer rebates will still run during the same period. I read that as the rebates will stack, which would be great for anybody in the market for a 5D/40D + Pixma Pro 9500, or willing to do the legwork to buy the combo and sell the printer to lower costs further.
