They are using J&R. I looked on the J&R site and they have the same price as they do on Amazon (rebate already subtracted).

I don't think so. I think they'll rebate themselves as they are a verified seller. J&R's rebate seems just that - J&R's. I'll be very disappointed if Amazon doesn't rebate. I would imagine that it's Canon that supplements the rebate anyways, so why would Amazon want to lose sales? Correct if someone knows otherwise.

How strange. I wonder why I'm seeing it being sold by J&R.

Crazy thing. I found the link through my shopping cart and get the 1099 price. Wonder why it doesn't find it for me when I do a search. Somebody doesn't want me to spend money! LOL!

How come I see NO mention of the rebates, on Canon's site? They usually have them up there, the day the rebates are announced? STRANGE!

I'm hoping amazon participates in this.

In-line with my impatient tendencies, I ended up calling Amazon just to see whether they have any idea if they will participate in this rebate promo (I want to get the 580 EX II). Surprisingly, I was speaking with a rep in no time but, no so surprisingly, she had no concept of if/when the promo would take effect. She said to try again later on...

I can't recall but did Amazon participate in Canon's previous rebate promos?

No idea, but they are an authorized dealer, so I don't see why they wouldn't. Adorama and Beach Camera haven't posted the rebates either as far as I can tell. I'm really tempted to just click the buy button at Canoga, but it might be worth waiting another day.

Indeed they do not charge tax and free shipping on orders over $25 (although its very slow shipping).

That's why I have Amazon Prime...free 2 day shipping. :D

Although I will probably order my 40D from B&H.
