Canoga has 5D with 24-105L for $2,549. If you can sell the lens for $800 to $900, then you're paying $1,650 to $1,750 for a brand new 5D.

What say you guys?

I see them sell for $850-900 used but the market will be flooded for a few months so I'd expect the prices to drop. Still, even if you get $800 for it, you'll still get the 5D for about $1700 once the lens is sold and after the rebate.

I want to say thanks to the original poster... just picked up my 40D and Pro9000 Printer at Adorama in NYC. Instant rebate plus mail in rebate is saving me $500... thanks very much!

What stinks is the 5D + 24-105L kit was $2650 at Amazon around Christmas for a couple of weeks. Now B&H has the kit for $2899 - $300 rebate = $2599. A $300 rebate saves you a mere $51 dollars. Sounds pretty shady to me. Especially up until about 6wks ago, B&H had the same kit for $2749.

^^ Really sucks, doesn't it. Even Amazon (their e-tailers) had it on Friday, for 2649...and now, to save 50 or so bucks...it's a waste. But, business is business...whatcha gonna do? Don't get me wrong, it's still worth it to get the kit...and sell the lens. Even if you get 900 for the lens, it's still a darn good price, for the body.

I don't think Amazon's price includes the rebate yet though. It's not mentioned on this page (external link), and I don't see any instant rebates for any of the other Canon products at Amazon yet.

Canon increased their prices a about a month ago 3-5%.

No. Those are the mail in rebates for the purchase of a pixma printer. The $300 instant rebate isn't mentioned anywhere I can see.

Nice. So Amazon raised their normal price $150 before applying the rebate. Classy.
