If you have cheap paint, maybe - or didn't prime first. If anything it'll yellow.

The walls of my new space are RED. Jury's still out on whether that was a bad move or not, lolll. Still working on it so, no shots have been taken. Though true, hopefully I can control my lights well enough that color-cast won't be an issue. Plus, it'll make another nice background.

But hey, if you shoot B&W you can make the walls look black, white or even grey with filters. :)

lol... I can cover the walls with black material just like Mr. White Wall :P

As a side note, the space looks pretty awesome imo... anxious to post finished pics (as I've taken none of the "in-progress" work). I can't say I didn't second guess my decision to go with red though. I'm only a little concerned :)
