24-70l sharp or not

Was playing with my 24-70 f/2.8L and a friend said the following pics looked soft to him. Shot at f/2.8 (ISO 800) not the best lighting.

No PP just resized.

Looks alright, but you may want to do a proper test using one of those diagrams, it will be more accurate.

Yes, the 24-70mm is a sharp lens.

Looks fine to me given the conditions and the fact you're shooting wide open.

The image on the candy box probably doesn't look very sharp because the printing on it isn't sharp to begin with--the table edge bottom right looks sharp. I agree, try a better test subject. My 24-70 is sharp wide open at iso 800.
