It was nice of the driver to lie and say no one was home and not deliver my MkIIn goodness. Now I have to try and sleep one more night with visions of 1D's dancing through my head. What a great day it was to go take some shots to.

Canon returned a 17-40mm f/4L which I had serviced at their Irvine Service Center using FEDEX. I wasn't home either...

So the FEDEX driver tossed the package over a six foot chainlink fence onto concrete in my driveway.

Thank goodness that Canon packages the returned lenses very well!

I usually just drive to the distribution center and pick up my valuable packages. I know this isnt an option for those of you who live far away, but if the choice of a thirty minute one way trip it might be worth it. That or get it delivered to your place of work if thats an option.

Being home all day in the living room, where I am sitting looking out at the driveway through a 6' bay window kinda rules out he tried to stop by. I have never had a problem with UPS, except the driver is evidentially a photog and hates digital. After a few boxes from B&H we talked a little and he told me that film is real photography.:D

Yeah and walking is real transportation the way the good lord meant!!

Sucks when they don't deliver. I have had it happen. If it was sent regular ground service, they will do that and schedule for the next day instead of having drivers work overtime.

Yeah I went through that. I am pretty sure the guy on the other end of the phone understood my displeasure about that crap. The fact that they don't even use their own guys and contract out the deliveries should throw up a flag to people wanting to use them.

You think thats bad, a delivery company here used to leave their engine running, the driver would run to the door and post the slip and then ring the doorbell.

After that he would run back to his van and roar off. Someone actually captured this happening on CCTV. Sometimes deliveries suck.

I cant stand fedex either..EVERY time I get something from them its always an issue. I think they are just about the worst ones out there. I dont ave any problems with UPS cause the driver knows me. I personally like USPS cause even if I miss them I can drive 2min down the road to pickup..Not over an hour away to a Fedex center

As maligned as it often is by others, I've had more overall success with regular postal service than I have with any couriers.

Don't worry though, once you get the IIN you'll quickly forget about this unfortunate delay.

FedEx, Yup, got one poor sucker in trouble, was watching the tracking as it appeared missed delivery, no one at home ~~ that's about knock off time of 4.30pm, phoned the office, the driver had gone home ~ he had done enough for that day ~ 6PM the package arrived by car ~~~ :)

FedEx are currently my chosen couriers. A bit pricey but I'm seeing a more consistent delivery pattern with them.

UPS used to be like this but then a long list of missing, damaged or wrongly delivered packages and unpaid import duties being sent to a collection agency, conveniently skipping the issuance of invoices for said fees. Plus, I'm speaking to someone in India ~~ they just don't have proficient enough phonetic English or phone manner. I don't bother with them now where I have a choice.
