I had ordered the "free" ConnectR, paid for the shipping (US$8 to Australia), back in October. Still hasn't turned up yet. In fairness, there is a news/blog entry on their site saying there have been problems with manufacture and delivery from their supplier, and you can get a refund or continue to wait. But if you refund then want it, US$16 next time, not free.

I'll wait. A little longer.

I'm in the same boat. I ordered my ConnectR Oct 3rd and still have not received it because of "unexpected delays by the manufacturer". Are they redesigning it again? ;)

I'm just amazed that a thread started about a review of a strap could gain 15 pages worth of comments. Do the people that make this strap know about what type of press coverage you have given them...LOL

I personally think that photographers are some of the funniest people around. Of all the forums I frequent, too many to list, the replies about models, hoods on backwards and lens caps on just crak me up.

Great review! Reminds me of the harnesses used to keep assusalt rifles at the hips and at the ready! I guess you could compare a rifle on a soilder like us photographers use our cameras as our weapons

I think reviews are posted, at least the reason I read them, is to try to find out if a piece of equipment will suit my needs & if it's worth the money we are being charged. This is an expensive strap.

Anyway, I forgot to order the new connectors and now don't know if it's still possible at the reduced price. Hate it when I get busy and forget things.

Just got my RS-4 in the mail today and would have to say that I'm pretty satisfied with it. I think it sorta makes me look like some professional photographer which I'm definitely not. I also had no idea that it comes with a case which I think I'll never use, but you never know when it may come in handy I guess.

I use the case to store my strap when not in use. On the outside of the camera case. I did not think I would use it either BUT it keeps my equipment safe from scratches.

I'm close to ordering this too. I wish I'd had it on the Christmas list because the wife was looking for something for me. Oh well, maybe they'll have a New Years sale ;)

I've lost a couple of Canon eyepieces using it because it swings next to your body and picks them off.

Just wanted to chime in and say I absolutely love mine. I love the functionality and comfort of my RS-1. My only gripe is the FastenR, it is way too bulky. I am not able to hold my camera in the portrait orientation anymore because the FastenR is too big. A quick trip to strapworks.com will fix this though. A D-Ring w/ clip and a small allen screw should do the trick. This custom attach point will be flush to the grip allowing me to hold the grip as intended.

Im going to jump to the dark side here. I tried it and do not like it at all. The main reason is the camera spins and twists up the strap. And while it is spinning the lens still sticks out and is able to be hit. So not worth the money for me.

I ended up with a free alternative. I got the free smugmug strap and connect it to the top right strap eye and the botom right strap eye on the grip. it is a very comfortable strap, I was very surprised. I wear it over one sholder like the R. Yes, the lens sticks out. But is does not even try to spin. And as the camera is on its side, it is at an angle your hand will already be in when reaching for the camera. Not upside down. And I can keep my QR plate mounted on the camera.

I have to qualify this by saying 95% of the time I do not have the strap on the camera. It only goes on when I know it will be with me all day.

Which eyepiece? The original or the larger one?

Thanks,
dan

Originals on two bodies 5D and 40D and a larger one that I bought as a replacement. So i guess that makes three.

I've not had an issue with this (ds2/M3 is what I used it on)
