I have a 580 and a 550 and the basically do the same job for me - no difference other than appearance.

Works well and I would have gone for this if I didn't get a good deal on my 430EX. Everyday, a programmer finds a way of creating an idiotproof program. Do bear in mind this test was bnot 100% strict but in controllable conditions. It gave me a better understanding of how well each work with colours and ETTL. Titus213 Cream of the Crop More info | May 06, 2008 09:48 | #7 I have a 550EX and a 430EX. Not a whole lot of difference except the 550EX does act as a master to the 430EX. The impression I had was that the 550EX was a lot heavier - it's not - and a lot smaller - again, it's not. The 550EX does have a bit more power. Dave
