This one is cool Lisa... If I ever get around to making my Scotland book maybe I will talk to you about some pointers for this kind of thing. :)

Hope the weather clears out up there... it's been pretty rainy in Asheville today! But WLOS (take their weather reports with a grain of salt) says that the rain will be clearing out and the weekend should be pretty!

Yep, I like the texture brushes too. That looks neat. :D

Tell me how you combined the Astral with the other one without messing with the colors. (How did you get the pink behind the butterflies?) My brain can't wrap around that for some reason.

thanks

I'm trying to do all sorts...from elegant to fun to grunge to classic....just so that I'll have a variety to choose from.

HEY CAT!! (momomomomom)

do you have that set "3 large retro brushes by eli burford"

Those brushes are SO FUN. I won't post the finished project but I just made a total eyesore :lol: with them....(I'm sure they could be used for non-eyesore things as well)

layers and layer masks

I used the bottom layer for the stars and each of the butterflies are 3 different colors/3 different layers...then I used the layer masks to mask sections on each layer so the butterflies came out multi colored. make sense?

edit...actually the bottom layer is black and the next layer up is the pink stars

Gotcha. ;)
Did you follow the directions for the astro brushes? I'd never done that before... using the overlay to add color later. That's gonna be way fun.

I don't have that other set you are talking about. I'll search it.

These were the instructions on the download page: (For the Astral Floral brushes)

1: Make a layer with a black background.
2: Make a new layer that is blank.
3: On this blank layer use the brushes in white.
4: Make a new layer, set the blending mode to Overlay.
5: Using soft round brushes of different sizes and colors, paint into this layer and you will the color show up over the flora brushes on the layer beneath.

To make the colors brighter, duplicate or copy the layer with the bright colors, or set the blending mode to Hard Light.

sounds interesting. I wish I had time to experiment with this kind of thing AND I wish I had the means to make money off of photography. :) Some day maybe.

I can't find the retro brushes you were talking about. Do you remember which site they were on?
