I miss the landscape of the east coast sometimes.

Not me. Of course, the only time I was ever on the east coast was in the winter of 1981-2, while in the Navy, stationed on a ship based in Norfolk, Virginia. All I remember of the east coast is cold, rain and wind. I never really got off the base while I was there, though. The ship set sail very soon after I arrived, and I was transferred to Orlando, Florida almost immediately when we got back into port a few months later.

I wasn't very fond of Orlando, either... I went from a miserable winter in Norfolk to an even more miserable summer in hot, hot, hot and HUMID Florida. Yuck!

Funny story... When I got out of the Navy, I went back home to live with my parents for a short while. I remember one day while I was telling them about my experiences in Norfolk. Naturally, having lived there for however short of a period it was, I pronounced the city's name like the natives do. My mother, the ultra-religious person she is, got mad. She thought I was intentionally trying to offend her.

Hi, Marian! I think you did good. Nice action shots.

Does your mother know you're still up? Isn't it a little late?

Actually, I'M supposed to be in bed, but I ended up playing with the dogs outside for a long while.

It'll be nice. Amikah will sleep long and hard tonight after how hard we were playing. I will get to sleep in.

Well, I'm glad you did. ;)

My parents never could enforce a "bed time" for me, either.
