Hi folks,

I've trawled through pages of this forum but I thought I would ask the question on a new thread.

I been trying to decide whether to buy the 300D or the 20D, but from what I've heard the 20D is a far better camera and feels more solid etc., so I had decided upon the 20D.

That was until I saw the 10D body on offer for 70% of the price of the 20D body...

So if you were me, would you spend the extra dosh on the 20D or settle for the 10D?

Btw, I've never used an SLR camera before therefore no very little about SLR photography but I'm sure keen to learn. I'm going to use it mainly for climbing (ie. action) pics & also indoor product photography (for work).

I'm thinking of starting out with the EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens.

One last question, you think it's worth me getting a Flashgun just yet?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Jus

Get the 20D

You will have no regrets. I got the 10D about 2 months ago and really regretted it and ended up getting the 20D anyways.

I bought the 10D in July not realizing a newer model was just around the corner. I've taken about 2500 shots with it so far and am extremely pleased with both the features of the camera and the resulting quality of the images.

I've been shooting Canon EOS cameras for over 10 years and the 10D was immediately comfortable for me.

I've read many of the 10D vs. 20D posts and can honestly say that while it might be nice to have the 'latest and greatest', it is not worth the money, to me, for the differences in camera - keeping in mind I just spent $1500 on the 10D a couple months ago.

Now, were I in the same shoes as you are right now, getting a new 10D for $600-700 or a new 20D for $1500 or so, I would probably pickup the 20D UNLESS the price were the biggest factor; then for $600-700 for the 10D you are getting ALOT of camera for the money.

I don't plan on upgrading from my 10D for quite some time. I find it quite ironic that many that just purchased 10D because it was a superior camera are now purchasing 20Ds since the 10D 'doesn't suit their needs anymore'???
