I'm looking at getting a portable backdrop stand and black muslin backdrop. to be used on location for weddings formals and portraits. For those of you more experienced - which is a big number! - is 10 x 12 generally considered big enough or should I be looking at 10 x 20?

Thanks,
Fred

Get the 10x20 and a stand that is adjustable in length and height (most portable are)

Then you can use the size you need. I sometimes only set up half my stand and the extra muslin just isnt used..... but I have it if I need it.

I use a JTL stand and love it

Any suggestions on what is most colors are most commonly used for Wedding/Portrait work? I'd like to buy two muslins but my wife and I are having a hard time agreeing on colors.

I bought this http://www.skaeser.com/servlet/Detail?no=358 (external link) when I bought my set.

1 crossbar rig
2 10x20 muslins: 1 black,1 white

and if I remeber right, they also tossed in a few clamps.

$230
