I think we all more than likely have a flickr account, but have you ever dug into your statistics before?? I just did and found some of my photos linked to other people's sites. Blogs or whatever. To make matters worse, the pictures are a straight link to my flickr page.

Any advise?

I'm probably going to reach out to them. But should I contact my lawyer?

Do you have any hope of getting money from them? Change the picture to something truly horrible. See how long it takes for them to figure it out. It's easy to steal photos from a website but Flickr doesn't have to make it that easy.

Given there's really no practical way to stop people using your pics, wouldn't you rather they at least gave you credit for them?

I have all mine under the Creative Commons license so I allow people to use them as long as they give me credit and link to my Flickr page. It's the ones that don't link back to my page that I'm worried about, and I'd imagine there are many more people using your pics than you think.

Welcome to the world of Flickr. If you spend alot of time listening to users from that site you will see how big of a problem. There are some higher profile court cases going on now on this same issue.

I personally think that alot of people feel that flickr is so big that they will never get caught and then cry Creative Commons when they do.

No not all users here have a Flickr account, I certainly don't and won't go near them. It is a personal choice. There are some things that you can do that can assist in making them so people don't want to take them. Watermarking in the bottom of the right corner is standard but is so easy to crop off and in many images it doesn't hurt the image a whole lot. I add a lower opacity but still visible to most of my images now and make sure that it is small enough and of low resolution that if they do take it they can not do a whole lot with it.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I was wondering about stats then I saw you have to pay for them.

Man, I wonder what I'm missing. Oh well, paying for an account like that, meh.
