Apparently this Baltimore Oriole! I knew they were in the area but I hadn't seen hide nor hair of one. So, I got out the trusty oranges and grape jelly and within 5 minutes (I swear!) he was out there.

Hmmm, this wasn't here 5 minutes ago.

Looks edible.

Smells like Smuckers. My fave!!!

I don't see anyone else around...

So, I guess I'll just dig in!!! MMMMMMMmmmm.

Love it!! These are my favorite birds. I have put out oranges and jelly for them but haven't seen one yet this year. Nice shots!

Very nice... I think I heard one in my neighborhood tonight. They are my favorites also being one of the most colorful birds to visit my back yard. I'll be breaking out the oranges and jelly shortly.

Alas, I cannot take credit for this phrase. It is part of a song from an old (late 60s maybe) Saturday morning show, H.R. Pufinstuf. I am showing my age :(

Thanks guys! It's surely a pleasure to have these birds back. Besides being so gorgeous, they have one of the catchiest songs, I think. I even hear my husband whistling it once in awhile.

I saw one of these at my mom's hummingbird feeder this week and I put out some oranges at my place to try to lure one into camera range. I knew about the oranges but had never heard about the grape jelly--is that a critical element or just icing on the orange? Also, does it have to be grape or will other flavors do?

Frank.

Grape seems to be what they want. I don't use oranges at all since they ignored the ones I put out last spring.

Great set Mitch and thanks for the tip on the Oranges, I'm going to try it this weekend, I've never seen one in the area but I'm sure they are around.

Hey Bill, it's Micheles set. Mine hasn't sat still for me yet. Usually you hear them before you see them though, they sing, sort of like a Robin who has had singing lessons.

And just as I typed that, mine came into the yard, singing away. :)
