I just completed the antenna mod for my cactus V2's, as seen here:http://jeremykuster.blogspot.com …odification-tutorial.html (external link)
I ordered the antenna and adapter from the site listed using the part #'s given. (did not do reciever battery mod). By following the directions, it was pretty easy.
When completed, I tested it and while I didn't check for extended range, I was pleased to find it seemed to cure the non-firing issue I was having at close ranges. That was more important to me than extending the range, which I'm sure was also accomplished.
1 question for fellow V2 owners: Where can I find the batteries for the transmitter? (23A on battery) I have seen the reciever battery (CR2) at Wal-Mart.

I don't own a V2 (but an older non-V2 version). After a few searches, I found them at Overstock.com (external link). I think A23/23A is the same (12V). $3.99 + $2.95 (shipping) = $6.94 (total).

If you want them from a local store, you may be able to find it at RadioShack (external link). This one is $4.99 for just one. :)

I found both at radio shack. Is the mod very complicated? I have been meaning to try it as I also have the occasional misfire....About one in every 5 shots

If you can solder half way decent and drill a small hole it's a piece of cake. I did mine a while back and had it completed in about 15 minutes. It's well worth it.

No, it's not complicated. As the article says, just make sure you drill in the right spot. My hardest part was the soldering. This was only the 2nd time I had soldered. But it still took only about 15 minutes and definitely helps. And I am still using the batteries that came with it. I am sure when I change both of them out I will see more improvement.:)

Go to CVS for the batteries. Duracell 21/23 or Energizer A23 are what you need. Energizer A23s come in 2 packs for around $7 I think.

Troubleshooting 101 (see also: LightRules,perryge):
1) RTFM.
2) Repeat Step 1.

Well, just installed new batteries (CR2 - $5, A23 - 2pk $1.88 at Wal-Mart:D). Went outside to test distance. WOW! Set flash on the bed of my truck and walked down the street, firing every 10ft or so. Got to the end of my street (trees there so couldn't go no further) and flash still firing. I had tested this when I first got my V2's and was a good 50-75ft farther than before and was still firing every time. I walked it off back to my truck - 120 LONG steps. Over 100 yds! More than I will ever need, and I still never found the maximum range. Needless to say I found the antenna mod WELL worth the time,$, and effort.:D
