Did you use flash when taking this photo? The face looks to me like it is lit somehow.

Yeah, HSS flash, and it's a bit overexposed.

flash in baseball? That's usually a HUGE no-no! I've never seen it allowed - and for this shot you really don't need it - not dark enough to need a flash.

No problem in my league with flash, and it was just getting dark... My 100-400 is f/5.6 and my ISO was already up to 1600, with SS at only 1/160. (Shooting on AV)

The reason I asked about flash is exactly what Mike said - flash at baseball/softball games is usually a HUGE non-no - VERY distracting. If they let you do it, more power to you - I am just surprised, that's all.

Wow, didn't even notice you asked that, ha. Yea, flash is a no-no everywhere I've ever heard of in softball/baseball. I know photogs who've been thrown out using them!

I'll speak as a coach for a second and say learn to shoot without it. That flash is not only distracting but its a hazard. A kid gets a flash in the eyes with a line drive and he has a broken nose or worse and it's your fault. Sure it might be a long shot to happen but I know professional players with that sensitive of eyes and can't even think of how many kids actually have it. Personally if it was my field I'd throw you out, but I have strict rules on my field/in my gyms.
