After being in bed all last week with the plague,I emerged sunday to climb the great hill of Shelsey ,Everest was a doddle compared to this effort, but coughing ,spluttering and sweating I made the highest base camp .

Some highly entertaining and wonderful machinery made it a great day, even if the racing was a little unspectacular.

Nice work, these give a good feel of the place and the atmosphere.

Shelsley Walsh is a hell of a hill isn't it? I nearly pegged out the first time I went up there  They need to install a cable car or something.

Chris, it was good to meet you there, see you around no doubt.

You got some excellent shots later in the day by the looks of it. I will get round to posting some this week.

Cheers

Julian

Thanks Glenn,
Yes a cablecar would be great, and some oxygen ,or perhaps I am just getting old.
The paddock is great dont you think,so freindly and just what I like about old fashioned motorsport.
The cars are just incredibly quick going up that hill, some have done best part of 150mph over the finish line.

Evening Julian,
Really good to meet you too,and very much looking forward to seeing some of your shots.
The weather turned out great for the afternoon.

Some nice shots pons, I like the one with a bit off opposite lock. Great atmosphere at hillclimbs something typically British. I found Shelsley a bit dull for photographing at, Loton has far better access.

As a photographer it's not the best, but as a spectator it's very good, and the quick cars go up it like lightning.
Prescott is probably better for photography as the cars get out of line more readily, and the bends and dips mean better shots.
Will check out Loton which is not too far away and Gurston .

I still have another 400 shots to open, some of which I know have some good action,so will keep me busy.
Cheers ,
Pons

Great photo's Pons. So clear and sharp. I assume you shoot in RAW and then PP?

I love the white mini, looks soo mean and purposeful even though it's such a small car. Did it have a motorbike engine transplant do you know? I have seen a few now with a chain driven solid rear axle and motorcycle engine and gearbox. Manic.

Lovely photo's though. Good work.

Hi Kev,
I am not sure what the engine transmission layout was,but suspect it was mid engined, and was immaculately prepared. Will try to find out out of curiosity.

The shooting set up is always raw,pp in photoshop cs3,and the camera was a 1D MK2,8mp,the lens a 35-350 L.

Thanks for all the comments,it does encourage my efforts,as I learn plenty on here that helps me improve.

I would be interested to know if you find out. Looks great though.

I reciprocate you comments here Pons, there is a lot to be learnt on this forum as I am beginning to realise (I have only recently joined), and there are some very helpful members who are fantastic photographers but are willing to help others achieve the best from their equipment (thanks Cadwell and Simon Harrison). In the short time that i've been a member I've certainly learnt a great deal which has resulted in my photography technique being improved significantly.

It's always a pleasure to see other peoples motorsport photos, especially when they're as good as these. Keep up the good work, and thanks for your comments on my post today :D

Hillclimbs can be a bit "boring" but the real beauty of them is the range of machinery you get to see. It's usually anything from a Nissan Micra that looks like it took a wrong turn leaving Tesco's car-park to fire-breathing single seat tarmac rippers.

The Mini is very nice, as is the black single-seater with a bit of opposite lock. It's nice to see a couple of Behind-the-scenes shots too, something i often forget to look for....unless i'm hunting for grid girls at a BTCC meet or similar ;)

Very nice photos. Out of interest did you shoot through the fence for the Mini? Your angle seems a little lower than I normally get but it might just be you are getting it a bit further away.

Very nice pons :)

Really like the 3rd and the last image as they both tell a bit of a story.
