Just took delivery of new Canon 40D which includes Canon's software CD. I currently have Lightroom and Photoshop CS2 installed on my computer. My question is should I go ahead and install all the programs or are there some I really don't need?

Thanks

Bill

Hi. It depends if you want to use the canon tools. You really don't have to install the software. If you going to use a card reader to copy the images then you can use either lightroom or photoshop to process them. You might want to install the Canon software if you want to use it for transfering files or converting raw files with DPP or tethering.

Hope this helps,

Yan

Also, you can use canon software to add personal information (owner name) to camera itself. I use LR primarily, but sometimes nice to have another RAW converter around, and DPP is very good...

Remember CS2 will not open 40D raw images. You will have to use DPP
